Celebrating Heritage in Milton Keynes

October 17th saw the first ever event for Heritage MK, celebrating the history and legacy of Milton Keynes.

The Chairman of Heritage MK, Mark Taylor welcomed 60 guests to the Fabulous Cruck Barn at the City Discovery Centre, including Debbie Brock the Deputy Lieutenant and local businesses.  Mark said that all members of Heritage MK, Bletchley Park Trust, MK Museum, City Discovery Centre, Cowper & Newton Museum and the Living Archive were wonderful examples of organisations that were protecting, preserving and promoting our legacy for our future.

Sam Crookes the Mayor of Milton Keynes, spoke about his love of the City’s past whilst the borough, continues to grow in an impressive way.

Julie Dawes, from the Parks Trust, explained about the work and remit of the organisation which takes fantastic care of  MK’s  green and open spaces. They continually improve and enhance the environment in which we live, work and visit.

Paul Wright, General Manager, of William Cowley Ltd,  the ONLY Parchment and Vellum maker in the world, was a passionate and fascinating speaker.  The product is unique, long lasting and very ‘green’. Paul is working tirelessly to seek new markets for the company, in order to make this business more sustainable.
